Five Simple Foods to Keep Your Skin Young
Everyone is talking about Nutrition these days! I’m always thinking about how the foods I put in my mouth are going to affect my skin. Does that sound like a real challenge to you? Well if it does, here’s 5 simple things for you to think about the next time you open that mouth of yours! Leading anti aging doctors and health care providers have given us some great information to help us along the way on our journey to stay Forever Young!
Here are my recommendations to take years off your skin……
1.Legumes, avocados, soybeans, nuts, and egg yolks: These are among my favorites because inside they are packed with biotin. Why is this important you ask? Simple…a lack of this chemical can lead to dry skin and brittle hair and nails.
2. Salmon: Yummy! One of my all time favorites! Do you know why Salmon is pink inside? It’s because of the carotenoid that is just waiting to help us. As an added bonus we get astaxanthin that improves our skin’s elasticity. And it’s chock full of the good fat -- DHA-omega-3 -- that makes your skin and hair look younger and healthier. Personally, I recommend taking at least 3 grams of high quality Omega-3’s every day. Check out the offerings from our nutrition partners throughout Cigi Forever Young and Omega-3’s will be easy to locate.
3. Green tea: Another one of the gifts of life! Why you may ask? Green tea contains polyphenols that protect our skin against sun damage and help to thicken the epidermis layer of the skin, our body’s primary barrier to the outside world.
4. Pomegranates: Have you had the pleasure of consuming Pomegranates yet? If not you are in for a treat! This magical food helps to thicken the epidermis and contributes to producing more collagen and elastin. Why is that important? These wonder compounds contribute to keeping our skin firm and springy. As an added bonus pomegranates contain antioxidants that help to accelerate wound healing.
5. Tomatoes: The nutrients in tomatoes help to reduce the likelihood you’ll get a sunburn! However, always be sure to use an SPF 50 and 4-star titanium dioxide or zinc oxide sunscreen when you are busy soaking up the rays of our glorious sun! We aren’t exactly sure what the active ingredient is, but most experts give the nod to the lycopene in tomatoes. While I love to eat tomatoes, I also adore LycoPom from New Chapter as my safeguard!
So there you have it…five easy steps to get you started on your journey to being Forever Young!
